Travelers Information Stations /Highway Advisory Radio Traveler Information Stations are licensed by the FCC exclusively to government agencies. TIS/HAR may be licensed on any AM frequency meeting FCC requirements and approval anywhere between 530 kHz and 1700 kHz. TIS/HAR is intended to provide motorists with non-commercial audio information about traffic conditions, hazards and emergency advisories, and various local points of interest.
LPB and TIS/HAR
The first TIS in the U.S. was designed and installed with LPB equipment at Los Angeles International Airport In 1972. LPB transmitters and equipment have been used in hundreds of TIS/HAR applications since then. LPB offers the highest quality and most cost effective TIS/HAR equipment in the industry. We manufacture equipment at our Pennsylvania facility and offer lifetime support on all LPB products built since 1960.
	The LPB AM-30TIS Transmitter Our AM-30TIS is the only TIS/HAR transmitter capable of 30 watt operation. In order to acheive long product lifespan and reliability beyond other products, the AM-30TIS transmitter is typically operated at 10 watts or less. The AM-30TIS has become so proven and respected that even our competitors order it for TIS/HAR authorizations above 10 watts.
